In a significant move to support the festive spirit and ensure the welfare of the community, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced an increase in government assistance to puja committees ahead of Durga Puja. During a gathering today at Netaji Indoor Stadium, she revealed that the grant to the puja committees would be raised from rupees 60,000 to 70,000.
Mamata's address further included crucial provisions aimed at easing the financial burden on puja committees. The Chief Minister stated that puja committees would only need to pay one-fourth of their electricity bill, marking a considerable reduction from the previous two-thirds requirement.
Moreover, she highlighted the significance of public safety during the festive season by announcing that fire brigade services would be offered free of charge to puja committees.
She emphasized her commitment to utilizing the funds provided to puja committees for the betterment of society.
She even announced the dates for Bhasaan (immersion) on 24, 25 and 26 October 2023.
